PVC- Exciting Polymer |
- PVC [Polyvinyl Chloride] is a thermoplastic material having very strong and steady properties.
- Bobkay Rigid PVC / UPVC pipes are light in weight, flexible, durable & non corroding and therefore long lasting.
- UPVC is the most popular plastic material due to its superior strength and stiffness to weight ratio. This makes UPVC pipes cost effective.
- As PVC is lighter in weight than other materials like steel, cement etc., it facilitates easy installation and economical maintenance.

Chemical Resistance
- PVC pipe has excellent chemical resistance to aqueous salt solution mineral acid and alkalis.
- PVC is virtually unaffected by water and absorbs only 0.1 % to 0.4% by weight in a 48 hours immersion test. PVC piping is not recommended for use with organic esters, chlorinated solvents and low molecular alcohols.

Precautions for Handling, Storage and Transportation of PVC pipes
- PVC pipes should not be subjected to rough handling.
- For temporary storage in the open field, care should be taken that pipes should not exceed 6 layers high. And should be well covered / stocked under shade.
- In case pipe is damaged, the damaged portion should be cut out.
- For long term storage, pipe racks should be provided.
- Wooden supports of at least 75 mm bearing width at spacing not greater than 1m should be placed beneath the pipes.
- If different classes of pipes are kept in the same rack, the pipes with the thickest wall should always be at the bottom.
- PVC pipes should be stored on flat surface.
- Height of stack of pipes during transit should not be more than two meters.
- Pipes should be well secured.
- While off-loading the pipes, take care to ensure that pipes do not fall one upon one another or onto uneven surface.

NDCM and NDRS I Ribbed Screens
- Bobkay Tubewell Screens have specially designed ribs which keep granulated soils away from slots and increase the permeability rating.
- The exterior ribs contribute to the increased screen strength.
- The rounded ribs prevent direct contact with the sand and gravel with the screen exterior in the area of slots.
- The ribs increase the area of cross section of pipes therefore providing higher axial loading rating.

Plumbing and Submersible delivery pipes
Bobkay UPVC plain Casing and Ribbed Screen pipes are manufactured for construction of Tubewell. However with major technology advances, specialized technical specifications have been developed specially for PVC Tubewell casing  [the most widely used being ASTM] and screen [the most widely used being DIN 4925]. |
