OUTRIGGER PADS
After about 10 years of trials and selected but increasing usage, BOBKAY Outrigger pads made of cast polyamide were generally accepted in about 1990. The advantages of polyamide pads are recognized in the light weight, high acceptable loadings and the shape retention caused by the memory of the material. At the intermit 1997 in Paris, one of the world's biggest construction equipment shows, cast nylon proudly present the future generation of Outrigger pad.

The new, specially developed formulation allows even higher loads and is still able to return completely to its final shape.

The new square design offers additional reductions of the surface pressure of 22 % I This against avoids the need to use expensive cribbing plates.

A full range of standard sizes from 400 x 400 mm up to 800 x 800mm is available. The top of the pad can be machined to customer requirements in order to fit the equipment.

CABLE SHEAVES
For many years manufactures and operators of heavy duty lifting equipment have sought ways to increase wire rope endurance life. Early attempts included lining the groovesof metal sheaves with resilient materials and mounting rims made of these materials on metal hubs. The growth of mobile lifting equipment has added a new design requirement as the dead weight of metal sheaves on the boom or mast must be reduced for improved lifting and over-the-road performance. With the development of BOBKAY cast

nylon sheaves formThe search for improved wire rope life, reduced weight and corrosion resistance has been resolved. BOBKAY sheaves can now widely used in both mobile and offshore lifting equipment.

CUSTOM MILL SHAPES
Custom sizes of rod, sheet, and tubular bar.
  • Large selection of tooling already available
  • Limitless size availability
  • Lowest cost tooling of any process
NEAR NET SHAPES
Castings of close to finish dimensions, supplied sufficiently oversize for finish machining.
  • Minimal Machining required
  • Can cast non·critical dimensions
  • Most efficient use of material

CAST BLANKS
Casting made to general configurations such as disks for machining into sheaves, gears,
Sprockets, star wheels, idler wheels, rollers, etc.

  • Wide size availability
  • Lower stress parts
  • Lower cost due to reduced material usage
  • Inexpensive tooling
CAST TO SIZE
Casting the part to complete or nearly finished dimensions. Parts may require no machining, or machining only on critical dimensions.
  • Minimal or no finish machining required
  • Economical on moderate run sizes

Bobkay sheaves reduce weight and increase crane load capacity

Application
Main load, boom point and boom extension sheaves on mobile hydraulic cranes used for wire rope.

Original Production Method
Iron of steel sheaves that are cast then machined.

Problem
Parts are heavy adding to over the road and boom hoisting weight, and reducing lifting capacity. Weight of the metal sheaves also makes installation and service difficult. They are prone to rust, and the metal grooves cause severe wean on the wire rope.

Custom Casting Solution
Bobkay GSM nylon sheaves are cast using the unique LPC Custom Casting process and require only machining off of the bore for a press fit bearing. In addition, because Bobkay GSM is only 1/7the weight of steel, the cranes achieve greater lifting capacity, over-the road
stability, and are easier to service Bobkay sheaves do not corrode, and wire rope life is increased

Benefits of custom casting this component

  • Improved lifting capacity and over the road performance due to lighter weight
  • Easier to install and service
  • Parts do not corrode

BOBKAY 6 PA (OllON) Coal Tub Pedestals have proved to be an ideal solution for replacement of Cast Iron Pedestals; BOBKAY 6 PA OllON pedestals outlast the conventional Cast Iron Pedestals 6 to 10 times leaving no wear on the axle of the Coal Tub. In addition BOBKAY pedestals can work without lubrication resulting in additional saving in the cost of lubrication and manpower.

MONOCAST GSM
Wire rope guides on lifting equipment rope guides are used on the cranes cable-drum to avoid that the rope layers are packed on top of each other

The rope is perfectly driven by the guides into the groove of the drum

  • High wear & abrasion resistance
  • Very good strength & stiffness
  • Increase the rope's life (very friendly towards mating surface)

BOBKAY MONOCAST NYLON GSM
Light Weight

Since Monocast sheaves weigh approximately one-seventh of the weight of cast steel sheaves saves 'dead' weight at the end of the jib. This makes mobile cranes more stable and means that hoisting machines can lift greater loads. A great deal of expensive fitting time is also saved in installing the lightweight nylon sheaves.

Longer lasting
Monocast is corrosion resistant and cannot rust. This advantage is of major importance in offshore applications, where corrosion and rust are two of the principal causes of wear. This is why monocast sheaves are so widely used in the offshore industry

LUBRICATION ELIMINATED WITH NO REDESIGN REQUIRED SMALL BRONZE
BEARING NOW BOBKAY® NYLON

Application
Stabilizer bearings on mobile work over and service rigs for oilfield service are traditionally cast and machined from bronze
.
Original Production Method
Components were expensive, required constant lubrication, were prone to corrosion, and often would ca use severe wear on an expensive mating pin. The bronze components were easily stolen and sold for

scrap value. Thick, non-uniform cross sections and low volume requirements ruled out the use of injection molding to make the parts.

Custom Casting Solution
A BOBKAY@ GSM nylon part is cast to a near net shape requiring minimal machining to finished dimensions.

BENEFITS OF CUSTOM CASTING THIS COMPONENT
  • Improved lifting capacity and over the road performance due to lighter weight
  • Easier to install and service
  • Parts do not corrode
