Comparison between Surface Aeration System and Diffused Aeration System :

S.No. Surface Aeration System Fine Bubble System
1. Power consumption is more. Power saving is 50% less.
2. Requires regular maintenance. Trouble free operation
3. Maintenance is not easy No or comparatively much easy maintenance is required.
4. Standby arrangement is required, which proves to be an expensive equation. No such standby arrangement is required.
5. Initial cost is more. Initial cost is much less.
6. In case a single Surface Aeration fails the complete system is paralysed. No such effect is their in case a single or few Fine membrane Diffusers fail and the system keeps on working efficiently.
7. Penetration of the Surface Aeration is limited to upto a small depth, only. There is thorough aeration throughout the tank
8. Standard Oxygen Transfer Efficiency (SOTE) is 1.2-3.1 Kg O2/Kwh, in case of Fixed Aerators and 1.2-2.2 , in case of Floating Aerator System. Standard Oxygen Transfer Efficiency ( SOTE) is 5.0-7.6 in case of Fine Membrane Diffusers.

Applications

  • Effluent Treatment Plants
  • Aqua culture farms
  • De-odourisation
